As Hurricane Isaias approaches, we wanted to share some important resources for our local communities. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the information below.

🚨 EVACUATION ORDERS — OCTOBER 8, 2026

Santa Rosa County: An evacuation order took effect at 12:30 PM for Zones A and B, low-lying areas, and mobile homes.

Escambia County: An evacuation order took effect at 12 PM for Zones A and B, including low-lying areas, Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Innerarity Point, and mobile homes.

Please follow local emergency management instructions and do not wait until conditions become dangerous to leave.

The county has announced this location as a general population and pet-friendly shelter. Please verify its opening time and current status before traveling.

🐾 For pets, bring carriers, vaccination records, food, water, leashes, and other necessities.

📍 Pensacola Bay Center

General population shelter announced to open October 8 at 3 PM.

📍 Marie K. Young-Wedgewood Community Center

6405 Wagner Road, Pensacola, FL

Special needs shelter announced to open October 8 at 3 PM.

⚠️ Shelter availability can change. Always verify that a shelter is open before arriving.

🚌 NEED TRANSPORTATION TO A SHELTER?

Please do not assume you have no options if you do not have a vehicle!

Santa Rosa County:

Transportation assistance is available for eligible shelter evacuations when services are activated. Inform them of wheelchair accessibility, mobility limitations, or other special transportation needs.

If you or someone you care for depends on medical equipment, electricity, oxygen, mobility assistance, or other medical support, please make arrangements BEFORE conditions deteriorate.

Remember that a special needs shelter is not a substitute for a hospital.

🎒 WHAT SHOULD YOU TAKE IF YOU EVACUATE?

✅ Identification and important documents

✅ Prescription medications and medical supplies

✅ Water and nonperishable food

✅ Phone, chargers, and portable battery packs

✅ Clothing, blankets, pillows, and toiletries

✅ Baby formula, diapers, and children's necessities

✅ Pet supplies and vaccination records

✅ Flashlights, batteries, and a weather radio

✅ Cash in small denominations

✅ Essential medical devices and accessibility supplies

Shelters may not provide meals, bedding, or personal supplies. Prepare to be self-sufficient.

⚡ IMPORTANT HURRICANE SAFETY REMINDERS

• NEVER drive through flooded roads. Turn Around, Don't Drown.

• NEVER operate a generator indoors, in a garage, or near doors and windows.

• Charge phones, power banks, and necessary medical equipment.

• Fill prescriptions and secure important documents.

• Bring loose outdoor items inside.

• Have a family communication and evacuation plan.

• Check on elderly neighbors, people with disabilities, and anyone who may need assistance.

• Do not enter floodwater or approach downed power lines.

• Continue monitoring official updates even after the storm passes.
